Pocket Professor: Chemistry privacy policy

Version 0.29.0. Last updated 2026-10-17.

Pocket Professor is a chemistry calculator and study app. It is built to work without an account and without collecting personal information.

What stays on your device

Your settings, saved reactions, history, practice progress and a short log of app errors are stored only on your device (browser or app storage). They are never sent anywhere automatically. Deleting the app or clearing its data removes them.

What is sent, and only when you choose

• Feedback and problem-set results. When you press Send or Email it in the Feedback sheet, or Send to my instructor after a problem set, the text you see in the preview (your message, the screen you were on, what you typed, the answer shown, device type and screen size, recent error messages, and the name you type for a problem set) is sent to the address set up by the person who shared the app with you (for example your instructor's Google Sheet or email). Nothing is sent unless you press the button.
• Live PubChem lookups. If you press a PubChem button, the compound name or formula you are looking up is sent to PubChem (U.S. National Library of Medicine) to fetch data. Offline search does not use the internet.

Purchases

Unlocking General or Professional is handled by Apple's App Store or Google Play. Pocket Professor receives only whether the unlock was bought; it never sees your payment details.

What is not collected

No accounts, no advertising, no tracking or analytics, no location, contacts, photos or microphone access, and no data sold or shared with third parties.

Children

The app is suitable for students. It does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.
