Pocket Professor
Microbiology
Early accessNew lessons added regularly
A pocket tutor for college microbiology, with Lacey the Lactobacillus as your guide. Made for pre-nursing and allied health students: short lessons, a Gram stain you can run yourself, and mystery bacteria to identify.
iPhone and Android apps: App Store and Google Play links are coming soon.
What's inside
Everything for the course, in one app.
Learn
Short lessons that follow the course, from microscopes and stains to infection and immunity, each with things to tap, sort and order and a three-question check.
The Unknown bench
A specimen comes in. Gram stain it, pick your tests (catalase, coagulase, MacConkey, citrate and more), watch the list of suspects shrink, then make your call.
The Gram stain lab
Crystal violet, iodine, alcohol, safranin. Time the decolorizer yourself, try an old culture or a thick smear, and see why a result goes wrong.
Gram-positive and Gram-negative
Tap any part of a bacterium or its cell wall to see what it does, then play the Gram stain step by step.
Practice
Terms, questions, sorts and orders that come back just before you would forget them.
Your Notebook
Save anything you want to come back to, with your own notes.
Early access
The whole course is laid out in the app, chapter by chapter, so you can see what is coming. The first lessons and the Unknown bench are ready now, and new lessons are added regularly.
